Duke Health nurses are leading health care innovation from the frontlines.

Nurses from across Duke Health gathered for the 2025 DUHS Nursing Innovation Summit to compete and come up with real-world ideas to reduce harms in key patient care areas, like falls, pressure injuries, and infections.

“Some of the most powerful innovations in health care come from people who live the reality of care every day,” said Terry McDonnell, Chief Nurse Executive and Senior Vice President at DUHS. “This summit is part of a much bigger shift. We are creating the structure, the support, and the space for nurses to lead.”
